Wall Street ended the month on a positive note as investors closed the books on a volatile June that was ultimately dominated by one theme: artificial intelligence.

The S&P 500 rose 0.4%, the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.7%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3%, as technology shares recovered from last week’s selloff and investors continued rotating back into AI leaders. (Please verify the final closing figures before publication.)

One of today’s biggest stories came from the semiconductor industry.

Investors continued digesting last week’s outstanding earnings from Micron Technology, reinforcing confidence that demand for AI infrastructure remains exceptionally strong. Memory chips, GPUs, networking equipment, and data-center hardware continue to benefit from unprecedented investment in artificial intelligence.

Markets also received encouraging economic news.

Recent inflation data continues pointing toward a gradual cooling of price pressures while the U.S. economy remains resilient. Investors are increasingly optimistic that the Federal Reserve may have room to ease monetary policy later this year if inflation continues moving toward its target.

June was a reminder that markets rarely move in straight lines.

During the month, investors worried about:

  • AI spending becoming excessive.
  • OpenAI’s reported IPO delay.
  • Rising geopolitical tensions.
  • Higher-for-longer interest rates.

Yet despite those concerns, many of the companies leading the AI revolution continue reporting strong revenue growth and expanding customer demand.

That’s why long-term investing remains so challenging.

Markets constantly fluctuate between optimism and pessimism.

Businesses create value much more slowly.

For investors, separating short-term emotion from long-term fundamentals remains one of the most valuable skills.

As we head into July, earnings season will once again become the market’s primary focus.

The question won’t be who has the most exciting AI story.

It will be who delivers the strongest financial results.
