If You Want to Become a Better Speaker, Consider Podcasting

Let’s face it. Many of us are here because we would like to be good public speakers. We would love to get in front of an audience of 10, 50, 100, 1,000 people and talk to them. Share your ideas, project, wisdom, knowledge.

Imagine that a scientist like Nadia and you get to speak about your research to fellow scientists.

Imagine that you are an animal activist like Aza, and you get to speak about why we should be more compassionate with animals to people who are ready to listen.

Imagine that you are a portfolio manager like Dora, and you get to speak about your where you see the market is going to other investors

Would that scenario be of value to you?

I am offering you that opportunity through the magic of podcasting.

I have been podcasting for 18 months right now.

As it is right now, I get 600 downloads per month, That means that I get to speak to an audience of 150 people every week.

I get to speak to the New York Times best selling authors, to international speakers, to scientists, and to anyone who is having a significant impact on society.

This morning, I had a conversation with a scientist in London, about the science of sleep.

About a month ago, I had a conversation with Dora about how she manages almost 4 billion dollars.

Next week, I will be speaking at a business conference in front of 50 people.

In two weeks, I will be assisting at a business conference, where the ticket price is $400, for free, in exchange for mentioning the conference on my podcast.

Being a podcaster is what allows me to invite business and community leaders to come to this club and share their ideas with us.

In this club, we have two other podcasters. Daniel Davis and Azfan. Ladies is about time one of you join us. Nothing is holding you back.

Podcasting is a great way to improve your communication skills

So why should anyone of you consider podcasting?

  1. It’s easy to make. All you need is a microphone, a laptop, and a sound edition software.
  2. It’s not expensive. Other than your laptop, you can buy a good microphone for about $60 to $80. And the software is completely Free.
  3. Podcasting is easy to consume. There is more time to consume audio communication than any other medium of communication. People can listen to a podcast while they
    1. Drive-in their car. Daniel tells me that’s how he listens
    2. Working out
    3. Walking their dogs
    4. Do chores around the house.

Fellow Toastmasters,

You are here because you would like your ideas to reach a bigger audience.

I suggest that after you finish your first Pathways journey if you are passionate about your subject expertise, podcasting should be your next step.
