battling inflation

Higher inflation is an opportunity to reset our lives

Inflation is more noise over substance.

Bank of Canada’s target range has been 1 per and it’s now 3 per cent. It’s far from being boogieman the press has made it out to be.

In fact, this inflation outcry should give us an opportunity to reset many or of our life choices, choices we should had made long time ago.

Groceries are said to have increased 7.4%. This is the best time to start a plant based diet. A plant diet is better for our health, it’s less expensive and we don’t have kill so many animals.

Gas prices are up 6.9 %. For years, we should have made plans to consume less gas. It really bothers me when I see big SUVs being driven around the city.

Working from home is providing an opportunity to consume less gas in transportation, but in addition to that, we should use more frequently public transportation, bicycle, and walking.

I can afford practically any car I want, yet I chose not to have a car. I walk, take public transportation, and when need it, use a car sharing service.

Avoid fast fashion. It also kills me to see the amount of money people consume on clothing. Look at the shirt I am wearing for this post. This shirt is over 10 years old. The pants are a little bit big because I lost some weight. I didn’t throw the pants away, I just adjust my belt a bit tighter.

We can do a lot less damage to the environment and save lots of money by consuming less money in clothing. We don’t have to buy new clothes every time a new trend arrives, we only need to buy new clothing when our old garments is torn apart.

To defeat inflation, reduce the impact of climate change, and even do our part to help the Ukrainians, we all have to consume less. It’s better for your wallet, it’s better for the environment, and it takes power away from autocrats like Putin.

How are you fighting inflation?
