Wall Street ended the week on a positive note as enthusiasm for artificial intelligence continued to outweigh concerns about geopolitics and interest rates.

The S&P 500 gained 0.4%, the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.3%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3%. It was the fourth winning week in the past five for both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq, highlighting the market’s resilience despite several bouts of volatility.

The biggest story of the day was another vote of confidence in AI infrastructure.

South Korean memory-chip giant SK Hynix made a powerful debut on the Nasdaq after raising approximately $26.5 billion in one of the world’s largest IPOs. The stock jumped more than 13% on its first day of trading, underscoring investors’ continued appetite for companies positioned to benefit from the artificial intelligence boom. Nvidia also gained about 4%, helping lift the broader technology sector.

Meanwhile, the energy market was relatively calm.

Despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Brent crude slipped slightly to around $76 per barrel, easing some inflation concerns that had weighed on markets earlier in the week. Treasury yields edged higher but failed to derail investor optimism.

Now investors are turning their attention to what could become the most important story of July:

Earnings season.

Several of the largest U.S. banks will report next week, followed by major technology companies later this month.

The market has spent much of this year debating AI spending, inflation, interest rates, and geopolitics.

The next phase will be simpler.

Can companies deliver the profits to justify today’s valuations?

History suggests that, over time, earnings matter far more than headlines.

For long-term investors, that remains the most important lesson.
