Organized religion is becoming less important for Canadians

According to a new report by Statistics Canada, the percentage of Canadians who care about organized religion continues to shirk.

Statistics Canada reported that in 2019, less than 70% of Canadians have any religious affiliation.

About 23% of Canadians declared that they attend religious ceremonies, at least once a month.

People are also declaring that being affiliated with a religious organization is becoming less important in their lives.

Activities such as prayer or meditation are also in decline. The decline seems to be steeper for men than for women and it’s accelerating for the younger generation.

It’s my belief that as people become more educated and learn more about science and technology, their reliance on a spiritual power becomes less important. Many other people are turned off by centuries of sexual abuse of the catholic church on innocent children.

In my city Montreal, many churches are being converted into condominiums or office spaces. I think that’s a more practical use of prime real estate of beautiful buildings.
