Never Surrender Your Rights

Some people float through life with the sensation that everything is just happening to them and the world is fundamentally out of control. In some ways, that’s true. Things do happen that aren’t under your personal jurisdiction. But that doesn’t mean that everything is just blind fate and that there’s nothing you can do to craft your destiny.

When governments behave in tyrannical ways, it is the duty of individual citizens to stand up for their rights. Or if they have no rights, to fight for them. The power-hungry will always seek to increase their dominion over human life.  And they will always concoct new ways to stuff you back into your cage. As a thinking, rational person, it’s your job to sniff out these attempts and find ways to undermine them. It’s for posterity.

Historically, we’ve seen people surrender their rights in many ways that have hurt the average modern person. And we’ve also seen a lot of people successfully fight for them.

But what can you do as a regular individual to help fight the forces of darkness and tyranny and push back against intrusion on your personal freedom?

Start With Yourself

The first place to look is yourself. Are you somebody who welcomes the tyranny of others? Or do you feel uncomfortable whenever somebody else tells you how to live your life?

If you’re the former type of person, then you need to take a good hard look at yourself. What is it inside you that makes you want to submit yourself to the authority of others? Where might that sinister impulse have originated?

Self-actualized people don’t think in terms of authority and slavery. Instead, they see themselves as independent actors in the world, forging a path for themselves. They don’t accept any dogma but only the products of their own reasoning.

Get Professional Help

Many people are under the impression that the law is some absolute force that reigns over our civilization. But it’s not. It’s the creation of humans and administered by regular people.

Fortunately, getting help fighting it and standing up for your rights is relatively easy, so long as you know where to look. TicketBust traffic ticket fighters, for instance, is an organization that helps people defend themselves against driving misdemeanors.

Once you have professional help, you’re in a far better position to defend yourself. You can get the knowledge you need to work out where you stand in relation to the law.

Make Your Voice Heard

Making your voice heard is also absolutely critical. Remember, in a democracy, legislators represent your interests. If there is a law that is hurting you and damaging your ability to live your life, then you can lobby them to fight against it.

Lobbying is actually a lot easier than you think. Writing a letter that explains your position and makes it clear where you stand can have a big impact on the way elected representatives think. If enough people in their constituency have similar views, that’s when real change can happen.
