How to Survive in time of crisis

how to survive in times of crises?  We are facing challenging times, but entrepreneurs are flexibles, adaptable, and optimists, so here are some suggestions on how we can survive.

This is a time to come together and focus on helping each other and our communities.

People are dying, but we have the power in our hands to stop the spread of this virus. This is a respiratory virus that gets transmitted when someone coughs within our range or when we touch an infested area with our hands and then we bring those hands to our face.

So the solution is simple but not easy. If we practice social distancing, all of us together, we have the capacity to stop the virus from transmitting.

If we do our social distancing, we may not only survive, but we will thrive after all this is over.

Four Steps on how to survive and thrive

1. Creation over consumption

Most of us are in lockdown. We could spend most of that time watching movies, scrolling on social media, catching up with cleaning our apartments and calling our dear ones. But eventually, we would like to do something more.

This is the time to take new courses, learn new skills, start writing that book, or finally start a podcast or a Youtube channel. The important this is to create something. By creating something, you will emerge as a beneficiary of this lockdown.

2. Acquire new skills

Ask yourself this question: What’s the one skill I could be working on right now?

So far, I took a course on how to build websites and another course on how to do SEO. I also have to practice for a Zoom presentation I will be giving on a Toastmasters conference. In short, just because I am locked down it doesn’t mean that I stop making progress in my life and business.

3. Reconsider your situation

Last month I had an agenda full of photography gigs and dance classes. Those options are no longer available. I was counting on that cash flow, but that revenue source has been cut off. Now what?

I have to reconsider my situation. I decided to start a new business building websites. I also started an SEO consulting service. In short, my situation has changed and I have adapted.

Think about how you can adapt to the new reality. How can you use your skills in this new environment? Entrepreneurs are always willing to pivot and adapt to the different demands of the market place.

4. Take care of yourself

You might have many responsibilities with your young family or with your elder parents. Or maybe you are having a hard time keeping your sanity in these difficult times. It’s very easy to neglect your own health.

Are you continuing to do your exercises? Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating properly?

As for me, I make sure you get enough sleep and I do one hour of walking with my next-door neighbor, and I have a great plant-based diet.

Do whatever you have to do to help those around you, but don’t neglect to take care of yourself.
