How I record my video podcast

I find video podcasts more engaging than straight audio podcasts. For some reason, it feels more real when I am face to face with the person I am interviewing.

In the past, I had a few challenges.

Most people have a separate digital audio recorder. They record the voice with the voice recorder, then video with the camera, and then put it all together.

But I wanted to have my audio and video together from the start. I have been using the little mic input on the camera and I have attached several kinds of exterior microphones. I have used shotgun microphones and lavalier microphones, but I have found shortcomings in both of those options.

What I really wanted was for a way to use my regular podcasting microphone and have the input right into my camera.

Well, I found the solution.

A few days ago, I bought the Comica CVM-AX3 Audio mixer. This mixer allows me to plug in two XLR microphones and connect it right into the camera.

In this video, I show the sound quality and all the different possibilities offered by the mixer.

Do you have a podcast? Do you record it with the video? Share your thoughts.
