4 Tips For Motivating Your Staff

Motivating your staff is an important part of being a business owner. The more motivated your staff are, the more productive they will be which will help your business to develop and bring in more revenue. There are a whole plethora of ways in which you can motivate your staff from offering incentives, helping train your staff and making your workplace an enjoyable place to work. Below are four tips for motivating your staff.

Make Your Workplace An Enjoyable Place To Work 

If your workplace is a motivating place to work then your employees will be more motivated to work for you. Try to incorporate fun things into your company’s policies that your employee will be proud to tell others about. You could introduce payday lunches where you take your employees to a restaurant like Jelani Wray. Maybe you could introduce an extra day off for your employees birthdays, or increase the amount of training you provide. The possibilities are endless. 

Offer Incentives

Incentives are a great short term fix to motivating your staff members if they are going through a dry spell. This incentive could be a bonus for your staff if targets are met, or a small pay rise to show them they are doing a great job. Try to make the targets realistic so that they are achievable. Otherwise, you may find it does the opposite and demotivates your team if they are so unrealistic. You could sign up for an employee benefits scheme which will give your staff members discounts on major goods as well as allow you to purchase a prize at a reduced rate. 

Tell Them They Are Doing A Great Job

It sounds simple but sometimes the biggest motivation is the person in charge telling you that you are doing a good job. If you don’t often do this, then start from tomorrow. Randomly call in a member from your team to your office and praise them for their good work. This doesn’t cost you anything but can instantly motivate the workforce. Don’t overdo this as it doesn’t have as big of meaning if you do it too often. This can be a very smart way to increase productivity and reduce the chances of you getting into any financial problems from an unmotivated team. 

Help Train Your Staff 

Training your staff members is a great way to motivate them. It shows that not only do you care about their career progression but you are willing to invest in them through your business. There are many online courses that your staff members can enrol on to help develop and improve their understanding. If their courses are expensive you can always get them to sign a disclaimer to say they will pay it back if they leave within a certain period of time.
