Trump for the noble prize? Many world leaders say so

When we think of the Nobel Peace Prize, we think of individuals who have helped bring lasting peace to some of the world’s most troubled regions. Over the years, it has been awarded to presidents, prime ministers, activists, and organizations that worked tirelessly to end conflicts. Now, several world leaders believe that President Donald Trump belongs in that same category.

In recent months, multiple heads of state and senior officials have either nominated or expressed their support for Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Their reasoning? His direct involvement in mediating peace agreements and ceasefires across some of the most volatile regions on Earth.

Netanyahu’s Endorsement: The Abraham Accords and Beyond

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally nominated Trump for his role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran — a feat many thought impossible — as well as for his broader Middle East peace initiatives. Most notably, Netanyahu points to the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and four Arab nations: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. This was a diplomatic breakthrough that reshaped the region’s political map.

Armenia and Azerbaijan: A Historic Truce in Nagorno-Karabakh

On August 8, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stood side by side at a press conference — something that, not long ago, would have been unthinkable. They jointly credited Trump for facilitating a U.S.-mediated ceasefire that ended decades of conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Their joint statement of support for his Nobel Peace Prize candidacy marked a rare moment of unity between two nations with a deeply troubled history.

Cambodia and Thailand: Calming the Border

Border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand erupted earlier this year, threatening to escalate into a full-scale war. Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol says Trump stepped in at a critical moment, securing a ceasefire that stopped the bloodshed. Chanthol announced that Cambodia would formally nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of this achievement.

India and Pakistan: Pulling Back from the Brink

Relations between India and Pakistan have been strained for decades, but tensions spiked in May 2025 after Pakistani militants killed 25 Indian tourists in Kashmir. According to the Pakistani government, Trump’s mediation helped prevent the crisis from spiraling into another war. Pakistan has already put his name forward for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

Six Conflicts in Six Months

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been vocal about Trump’s record, claiming he has successfully ended six international conflicts in his first six months in office. The list includes:

  1. Thailand and Cambodia
  2. Israel and Iran
  3. Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo
  4. India and Pakistan
  5. Serbia and Kosovo
  6. Egypt and Ethiopia

While some may question the long-term stability of these agreements, there is no denying that this is a remarkable diplomatic track record in such a short time.

Why I Believe He Has Earned It

Whether you admire President Donald Trump or not, his recent peace-making record speaks for itself. The Nobel Peace Prize is not about political preference — it’s about tangible contributions to peace. In just half a year, he has helped de-escalate multiple dangerous conflicts, often in regions where diplomacy had been stagnant for decades.

Critics will argue about his motives, his style, or the sustainability of these agreements. But in the realm of international diplomacy, results matter. And the results are clear: fewer bullets flying, fewer lives lost, and a chance — however fragile — for lasting peace in regions that have known little of it.

In my view, if the Nobel Peace Prize is to remain a symbol of honoring real-world impact, then President Donald Trump’s name deserves to be on that list.
