In an October 23, 2025 interview on The Tim Dillon Show, Sanders admitted that President Trump handled border security better than President Biden, emphasizing that “a secure border is essential to national identity.” This rare cross-aisle recognition highlights the undeniable reality: Trump delivered results that no other president has.
Overwhelming Success Where Others Floundered
Trump’s policies—Remain in Mexico, robust ICE enforcement, and physical barriers—dramatically reduced illegal crossings and restored order to a system long plagued by chaos. Under Biden, however, illegal crossings skyrocketed, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection recording over 2.4 million encounters in FY 2023 alone. The contrast couldn’t be starker.
Trump proved that deterrence works. Biden’s approach proved that open borders invite disorder. The math is simple, and the results speak for themselves.
Even the Left Can’t Ignore Reality
Sanders’ admission is more than a political quip; it’s a moment of clarity from the left. For decades, he has argued that you cannot combine open borders with expansive social welfare programs. Trump’s enforcement policies, by contrast, made it possible to maintain both order and sovereignty.
Other Democrats, like Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, have also hinted at similar concerns. While they may not praise Trump personally, they can no longer deny that his border strategy works — because the evidence is overwhelming.
