Canada by train

If you are planning to travel by airplane, train, or boat, you will need to get vaccinated

The COVID-19 virus propagated itself by airplane, train, and boats. The Canadian governmet is putting an end to the propagation of the virus by asking people for proof of vaccionation (by the end of October) before they can traval by air, trian, boat. Those who have not been vaccinated, will not be able to travel.

The Canadian government has announced it will soon require all federal public servants to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will also extend its vaccine requirement to travelers on commercial flights, interprovincial passenger trains, and cruise ships.

Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc said on Friday the vaccine requirement for public servants will be in place later this year and that he expects corporations owned by the federal government and other federally regulated employers to follow suit.

The federal government is the largest employer in the country and it is the government’s duty to guarantee the safety of their employees and those who they serve.

Employees in the federally-regulated air, rail, and marine transport sectors will also be required to be vaccinated, along with certain travelers.

This includes all commercial air travelers, passengers on interprovincial trains, and passengers on large marine vessels with overnight accommodations, such as cruise ships.

Canada’s two largest airlines said they support mandatory vaccines for employees. Air Canada said the move is a welcome step forward in the evolving measures to protect the health and safety of airline employees, customers, and all Canadians.

WestJet Airlines Ltd. said it will adhere to the requirement for domestic travelers to be fully vaccinated or tested prior to departure.

The vaccination requirement applies to railways that travel between provinces but not urban commuter railways, which aren’t regulated by the federal government.

Other countries, including the U.S., are considering or imposing stricter rules for federal workers to limit the spread of Covid-19. Canada has a relatively high vaccination rate with more than 70% of the eligible population vaccinated.
