Brian Portnoy, Ph.D., CFA is currently the Director of Investment Education at Virtus Investment Partners. A U.S. based asset management and owner of the website Shaping Wealth. Brian Portnoy has spent the last 25 years as an educator, investor, and strategist. As an educator, he writes a lot of content, mostly on the field of behavioral finance and he travels around the world to give talks on the same subject.

We spoke about his two books, The Investor’s Paradox and The Geometry of Wealth, where he tackles the challenges of not only making better investment decisions but also how money figures into a joyful life.

First of all, Brian highlights the distinction between being rich and being wealthy. Then he uses geometrical figures, a circle, triangle, and square help us to visualize how we adapt to evolving circumstances, set clear priorities, and find empowerment in simplicity.
